ALDI Proposed for Michaels Store Location on Route 112 in Medford
ALDI is expanding again on Long Island. The discount grocery store recently opened in Rocky Point to much fanfare and they have three more locations planned, including one in Medford at 2799 Route 112 inside the Medford Crossings shopping center.
A representative for the developer, Medford Equities LLC, said the new ALDI would go into the same spot that Michaels is in now. Michaels was said to be relocating but no mention was made of where. A Rite Aid Pharmacy in the same shopping center closed down and the unit is vacant so it’s possible Michaels is moving there. The representative proposed a facade change and presented renderings to the Brookhaven Town Planning Board. No one from the public spoke at the meeting regarding the matter.

According to reports, ALDI plans two more stores, one in East Northport and another in Central Islip at the old psychiatric center property there, which is being redeveloped.
The Medford Taxpayers and Civic Association expressed its support for the new ALDI in a letter.
