Coffee Chain, Ready Coffee, to Revive Ten Long Island Dairy Barn Locations Under its Brand

A coffee chain based in Hudson Valley is set to expand onto Long Island after acquiring 10 former Dairy Barn locations in the process. Ready Coffee purchased nine properties in Nassau County and one in Suffolk County for a little over $9 million, according to reports.

A representative from Ready Coffee confirmed the sale saying that two of the stores are already under development in Baldwin at 870 Atlantic Avenue and Glen Cove at 96 Forest Avenue, with targeted opening dates of later this year.

“We saw an opportunity to bring our style of delicious, on-the-go coffee to Long Island communities,” the representative said in a statement emailed to LongIslandResturants.com.”Long Island is adjacent to and a natural extension of our existing store base in the Hudson Valley.”

Ready Coffee, known for its drive-thru service offering handmade coffee, specialty teas, energy drinks, real fruit smoothies, shakes, and drinks for kids, opened its first express location in Wappingers Falls in 2019.

Long Island Business News reported that the additional acquired Dairy Barn sites include properties at 1230 Grand Ave., North Baldwin; 2805 N. Jerusalem Ave., East Meadow; 2020 Jericho Turnpike, East Northport; 114 Franklin Ave., Franklin Square; 177 Atlantic Ave., Freeport; 1600 Broadway, Hewlett; 241 Hempstead Ave., Lynbrook; and 2735 Oceanside Road, Oceanside.

The Dairy Barn chain, originally owned by the Cosman family, sold 38 of its remaining properties in 2009 to Simi Enterprises, a Long Island City-based family business. In 2021, Simi leased 28 of the properties to GFG (Greek From Greece), but after nearly two years, GFG returned the properties to Simi in November 2022.

Simi later listed 17 of the locations for sale with Sovereign Realty Group.

“When Ready Coffee came forward, we believed it had a strong chance of success, especially given the municipalities’ likely approval of a business that could revitalize these long-vacant sites,” Coté said in a statement to LIBN. “Ready Coffee’s unique model aligns well with the former Dairy Barn locations.”

Ready Coffee also had been asked to come to Long Island by its patrons.

“Many of our existing customers have ties to Long Island and have requested that we come to their local community,” the Ready Coffee representative said.
