Elaine’s in East Setauket Sets Grand Opening Date of April 4th
The wait will soon be over for folks to sit down at Elaine’s Restaurant and Bar in East Setauket. Owner Elaine Micali said that her new restaurant will have its grand opening on Thursday, April 4th.
When Micali first announced that she would be taking over the former Thai Show North spot at 316 Main Street last summer there was a flurry of excitement. Micali had spent years as manager at Pentimento Restaurant in Stony Brook and many welcomed her return to the area restaurant scene.
Since then Micali, her husband, Enzo, and her crew have been hard at work transforming the location into something that would fill the void Pentimento left when it closed down.
The immediate neighborhood around Main Street in East Setauket has been through an upheaval as of late. Ixchel, a new Mexican cuisine restaurant, recently opened at Dave Tunney’s former Old Fields Tavern (previously Old Fields Barbecue) location and then the long-standing Mario’s restaurant suddenly closed its doors at the beginning of the year. Elaine’s will be a welcome addition.
Micali said the location was perfect for her needs when it came up.
“We loved the spot because it will draw from Port Jefferson, Miller Place and Mount Sinai as well as the locals,” she told LongIslandRestaurants.com back in July. “And maybe a ferry crowd from Connecticut.”
Everything is still very much under wraps. Micali described the menu as fresh Italian food that will change seasonally. With Elaine’s, she is looking to recapture a little of the je ne sais quois that made Pentimento so beloved.
“It had its own little culture,” she said. “On my day off we were there. We loved it for so many reasons. It was our local little Cheers.”
Look for more updates about the opening of Elaine’s Restaurant and Bar coming soon.
