La Bonita Tacos & Tequila on Route 112 in Coram Closes For Good

La Bonita Tacos & Tequila is saying adios! The family-owned restaurant announced today that it is closing for good.

“Thank you for almost 9 years of memories. Unfortunately, La Bonita is permanently closed,” a Facebook post on the restaurant’s page said. “The partners are retiring from the business and extend their heartfelt thank you for supporting this restaurant.”

La Bonita was located at 1850 Route 112 in Coram in the same shopping center as Movieland Coram movie theater.

Steve Salazar, who posted the message on other social media pages, including the popular Long Island Food & Drink group, lists his occupation as CEO at the restaurant starting in 2015.

Dena Pontillo an admin on the Long Island Food & Drink page made an additional post regarding the closing:

“Steve & Mariela and all their staff are just fine. Some changes are happening and more details will be revealed when the time is right. Sit tight!”

There was an outpouring of support for Salazar and La Bonita Tacos & Tequila on Facebook with people sharing memories and looking forward to the next food adventure.

The La Bonita post said that new things are on the horizon.

“Although the partners have moved on, Steve continues with the desire to serve the community and is looking for an opportunity to eventually get into it again. If that occurs we hope you will show up with the same enthusiasm you did for La Bonita. Hopefully it will be sooner than later but we’ll see you soon amigos!!!”

We will update with more information as it becomes available.
