Long Island Pekin in Babylon Closes After Five Years

The efforts this restaurant on Main Street in Babylon put into saying goodbye to its customers and fans is one of the most heart wrenching in recent memory. In a Reel posted to its social media, the camera pans around the exterior and interior of the restaurant as a phone rings. Then the call is picked up.

“Thank you so much for calling Long Island Pekin,” the voice says and then there is a long pause. “But we are closed.”

Jason Lee, one of the owners of Long Island Pekin comes on the screen with a heartfelt message explaining why Long Island Pekin was closing. He does promise two take-out restaurants are in the works.

In the text accompanying the post they promise that Fok Noodles Express is “coming soon.”

“I want to remember the laughs rather than the sadness of today’s news,” the post says. “Sometimes the hardest decisions are done for the right reasons and that’s exactly the case here. I’m very sorry for not informing everyone earlier about closing but I didn’t want to be talked out of it, which I’m susceptible to. Let’s continue to talk here and stay in touch. I’ll always be playing with food in some capacity. Whether it’s reviews, travel or recipes, I’ll keep the mood light and excitement high. See everyone soon ❤️❤️❤️”

Long Island Pekin opened at 96 East Main Street five years ago and became a spot known for its namesake Peking Duck, dumplins, and other creations.
