Mavericks – a Steak Place That’s Not a Steak Place – Opens in Montauk
If you have the ache for steak in Montauk this is the new spot.
According to a write up in Vogue, this new surf and turf restaurant was co-founded by Vanessa Price, wine director of Wildflower Farms, and James Beard-nominated chef Jeremy Blutstein.
Mavericks Fort Pond location allows for stunning views while you dine on Lobster & Celeriac Bisque or the Fluke Crudo to start and Bone In Tuna Ribeye or 8-oz Texas Wagyu Sirloin Domestic Wagyu for your entrees. Sides include their Sagaponack Baked Potato and Roasted Southampton Mushrooms.
Dinner is served 5-9pm Monday-Thursday and Sunday and 5-10pm Friday-Saturday. They have indoor and outdoor seating, weather permitting.
Mavericks considers itself “a steak place, that isn’t a steak place.” With a steak menu in a space that feels cool and stylish – decidedly Hamptons-esque. They also allow you to bring wine (as long as it’s not the same as a vintage on their menu) for a $75 corkage fee.
The reviews have been stellar so far.
Kelly M gave them five stars on Google.
“We have eaten at Maverick’s twice and both meals were excellent,” she said. “The menu is very creative and you can tell the chef is adventurous with the interesting plates and bold flavors. Wine selection is amazing as well (thank you Vanessa). The restaurant has a great vibe and the live piano on weekends is a treat.”
Jesse M said that “the experience from start to finish was fantastic.” “All of the food was equally as gorgeous as it was delicious,” she wrote. “The space is so beautiful and you can’t beat that view.”
Christian R loved the vibe and the food.
