Nearly 200 Long Island Pizzerias to Join Fundraiser for West Babylon Crash Victims on Wednesday
On Wednesday, October 23, 2024, nearly 200 pizzerias across Nassau and Suffolk Counties will participate in the Long Island Pizza Strong fundraiser to support the families affected by the tragic West Babylon car crash that occurred on September 21. For every pizza pie sold at participating locations, $5 will be donated to the families of the victims.
The fundraiser aims to assist the families of two individuals who lost their lives in the crash and four teens who were seriously injured. All proceeds from the event will be evenly distributed among the impacted families. The participating pizzerias, which have increased to nearly 200, will donate $5 from each pie sold throughout the day.
Long Island Pizza Strong has a proven track record of rallying the local community in times of need. In 2023, the organization raised over $102,000 for the families of the Farmingdale bus crash victims. Earlier this year, $181,500 was raised for the family of Officer Jonathan Diller and other causes that support local police officers. Now, the group is hoping to continue that success by offering meaningful support to the West Babylon crash victims.
The event is being organized by Anthony Laurino, owner of Phil’s Pizzeria in Syosset, Jim Serpico of Side Hustle Bread, and Alyssa Guidice, founder of the Dine-LI foodie Facebook group.
“We come together as a community during times of tragedy, and while it is difficult to hold another fundraiser, we are determined to help these families in any way we can,” said the organizers.
Custom pizza boxes for the event are being provided by Avco Boxes, and exclusive merchandise will be available thanks to Stitch This Print That. To find participating pizzerias, visit lipizzastrong.com. Stay updated on the event by following @lipizzastrong on social media.
