New Irish Pub LI McGrath’s Set to Open at Former The Republic Pub Building in Farmingdale
A new Irish pub is coming to Main Street in Farmingdale! LI McGrath’s, a sister pub to McGrath’s in Galway, Ireland, is set to open by the end of the month in the space formerly occupied by The Republic Pub. The new spot, led by local restaurateur Ross Finn, will bring an authentic Irish experience to the heart of the village.
The mixed-use building at 217 Main St. recently sold for $950,000, according to Long Island Business News. The property, which features four apartments above a restaurant space, had been vacant since The Republic Pub closed in January 2024 after over a decade of operation.
Berkshire Hathaway Commercial Services brokers Guy Canzoneri and Christian Standerwick represented both the buyer and seller in the transaction. Canzoneri noted the strong interest in the property.
“We had so much interest in the building from people who were also operators,” he told LongIslandRestaurants.com. “When we sold the building, we went back to the prospects to see if there was an interest in leasing the building.”
The space will now be home to LI McGrath’s, Finn’s latest venture, adding to his portfolio which includes Whiskey Reds Sports Bar & Grill in East Meadow. With plans for a few cosmetic updates, LI McGrath’s is gearing up to offer locals a taste of Ireland right here in Farmingdale.
