New Brunch Spot, Over Easy Huntington, Now Open at Former Vinoteka 46 Location

A new brunch spot has opened in Huntington at 46G Gerard Street in the former location of Vinoteka 46 wine bar, which closed in June. Restaurateur Lou Aloe, known for Black & Blue, Rookie’s, and Munday’s in the village, took over and converted it to a new concept called Over Easy Huntington.

“It’s going to be a lot of great breakfast, lunch – and booze,” said Vinoteka 46 owner Daniel Pedisich in a goodbye post on Facebook. “Huntington, you’re in for a treat!”

Someone who answered the phone at Over Easy Huntington said that like Munday’s luncheonette, the new restaurant wants to be a go-to local breakfast and lunch place.

“Lou is going back to his roots,” he said.

While the vibe at Munday’s is classic diner, Over Easy Huntington adopts the more modern touches that were left over from Vinoteka 46.

The menu includes a charcuterie breakfast board for four with french toast, pancake, waffle, fresh fruit, scrambled eggs bacon, turkey bacon, home fries and maple butter. The breakfast fondue is very popular according to the employee we spoke with at the restaurant. That includes french toast nuggets, bananas, strawberries and served with a choice of maple butter or nutella dipping sauce. The eggs benedicts are also popular with four different styles including avocado BLT, potato latke, classic and smoked salmon. Their lunch menu includes selections that are paleo or vegan, or go just for the Reuben sandwich.

The boozy part of the menu includes a selection of wines (covering all your standard varieties from Pinot Grigio to a Cab to a Prosecco. They have Six Harbors Pale Ale on tap from the Huntington brewery and a South Shore Shark Bite IPA from Oceanside. Don’t worry, they have a Bloody Mary and Mimosa available too for the classic brunchers in the group. Pick a Paloma or Black Russian for something a little different or a Pickle Martini or Smoke Show – with mezcal, Aperol, watermelon and lime – for more exotic cocktails.

The employee said the Aloe is trying to capture a shift in local dining habits.

“Hunting village has definitely become a brunch town,” he said.
