Sweetgreen Expands Menu with Health-Conscious Fries, Ripple Fries Coming Soon to Long Island

Sweetgreen, a fast-casual chain known for its fresh salads and sustainable food practices, is adding a new option to its menu that Long Islanders might soon find on their local Sweetgreen menus: Ripple Fries. Already in test phase in Los Angeles, these fries are expected to reach Sweetgreen locations nationwide, including those on Long Island, next year.

Ripple Fries are Sweetgreen’s take on a classic favorite, but with a healthy twist. These fries are air-fried with avocado oil—a non-seed oil that many consumers prefer for its health benefits and sustainability—and contain roughly 240 calories per serving. The fries come with a choice of two dipping sauces: a tangy pickle ketchup or a savory garlic aioli.

The addition of Ripple Fries marks Sweetgreen’s shift towards offering more familiar, comforting menu items that appeal to a broad range of customers, including those seeking alternatives to traditional salads. Sweetgreen’s CEO and co-founder, Jonathan Neman, emphasized this expansion during a recent call with analysts, describing Ripple Fries as a “permissible indulgence” that aligns with the company’s health-forward mission. “We want to provide the foods people love, like fries, but in a way that maintains our commitment to health and sustainability,” Neman said.

On Long Island, Sweetgreen fans can currently visit locations in Huntington, Garden City, and Woodbury, with a new location planned for Manhasset. If the Los Angeles test proves successful, Ripple Fries could soon become a staple item at these Long Island locations, offering a more diverse menu for those looking to balance health-conscious options with a hint of indulgence.

Sweetgreen has already seen success with similar menu expansions, including last year’s protein plates and recent seasonal additions like Maple Glazed Brussels Sprouts. With Ripple Fries, Sweetgreen aims to attract not only salad enthusiasts but also customers seeking heartier, more versatile options.

In addition to Ripple Fries, Sweetgreen plans further menu innovations, including the development of handheld items and desserts. While no specific dates have been announced for these new items, Sweetgreen’s continued emphasis on menu diversity reflects its ongoing strategy to enhance customer engagement and drive traffic, especially during dinner hours and weekends.

As Sweetgreen continues its expansion across the U.S., Long Islanders can look forward to a fresh and unique spin on the classic fry—coming soon to a Sweetgreen near you.
