Van Leeuwen Ice Cream Scoop Shop at Roosevelt Field Mall Now Open

Long Island’s ice cream scene just got a sweet new addition. Van Leeuwen Ice Cream, the acclaimed NYC-born brand known for its artisanal dairy and vegan ice cream, is set to open its first Long Island location at the Roosevelt Field Mall on Thursday, June 6.

In celebration of the grand opening, Van Leeuwen will offer $1 scoops from 12pm to 2pm, and the first 100 customers will receive a free tote bag starting at 12pm. The scoop shop, located on the second floor near the center elevator, will be open from 10am to 10:30pm on opening day.

Founded in 2008 by Ben Van Leeuwen, Pete Van Leeuwen, and Laura O’Neill, Van Leeuwen started as a single yellow scoop truck in NYC. The brand quickly gained a dedicated following for its rich, French-style ice cream, made with more than double the amount of egg yolks compared to standard ice cream.

The extensive menu at the Roosevelt Field location will feature over 30 signature flavors, including the award-winning Vanilla Bean, Honeycomb, Pistachio (with Sicilian pistachios from Mount Etna), Marionberry Cheesecake (with berries from Oregon’s Stahlbush Island Farms), Praline Butter Cake, and Earl Grey Tea. Vegan options, such as Banana Bread Pudding, Peanut Butter Brownie Honeycomb, and Strawberry Shortcake, will also be available. Guests can enjoy sundaes, housemade waffle cones, ice cream sandwiches, root beer floats, milkshakes, and pints to-go.
