Wading River Pizza Purchased by Expanding Hamptons-Based Pizzeria Brand, Uncle Joe’s
Wading River Pizza at 6324 Route 25A in the Little Bay Shopping Center, which is also home to the Greek Island Diner, has changed hands and the new owners, Uncle Joe’s Famous Pizzeria have been gobbling up local pizza shops lately. This is their second acquisition of a local pizzeria this year.
In January, Uncle Joe’s Famous Pizzeria announced they were taking over Fusilli Ristorante in Miller Place. Now, Uncle Joe’s is adding Wading River Pizza to their growing chain of pizzerias.
The former co-owner of Wading River Pizza, Steven LaBarbera, will retire in March 2024.
“It has been an incredible journey serving you and we are truly thankful for the opportunity to be a part of this wonderful community,” said LaBarbera in a press release from Uncle Joe’s Famous Pizzeria.
Co-owner Kristen LaBarbera said she is confident in the transition from Wading River Pizza to Uncle Joe’s.
“We trust that they will treat you all like family, just as we have strived to do,” she said.
The Uncle Joe’s Famous Pizzeria brand was founded in 1968 by “Uncle” Joe Sciara. Uncle Joe’s was acquired last year by Hamptons Brands investment group, which is led by Hampton Bays residents Tana and Scott Gerber. Aside from the new Miller Place location, Uncle Joe’s Famous Pizzeria is also found in Hampton Bays at 42E Montauk Highway.
“We are excited to introduce the Wading River, East Shoreham and Rocky Point communities to some of the specialties that have made us a trusted, family-friendly brand for over 50 years,” said Uncle Joe’s co-owner Scott Gerber in a statement.
Both Miller Place and Hampton Bays locations are under renovation and will re-open this spring. The full transition to Uncle Joe’s Famous Pizzeria in Wading River will also occur in spring. For catering orders or to order pizza delivery in Wading River visit UncleJoes.com or call (631) 929-9222.
Uncle Joe’s isn’t stopping in Wading River with its pizza plans.
“Uncle Joe’s Famous Pizzeria intends to announce additional acquisitions in the weeks and months ahead,” said co-owner Tana Gerber.
